Hartley seals Celtic switch

Celtic FC have signed Scottish international midfielder Paul Hartley from Heart of Midlothian FC while Shaun Maloney has been reunited with Martin O'Neill.

Rangers interest
The 30-year-old, capped eleven times by Scotland, had been the subject of two unsuccessful bids from Celtic's Glasgow neighbours Rangers FC, but has opted instead to join his boyhood favourites. Hartley, who had two years left on his contract in Edinburgh, will be reunited with former Hearts team-mate Steven Pressley - the defender arrived at Celtic earlier this month. Hartley scored 31 goals in 118 Premier League games for Hearts, having landed at Tynecastle in 2003.

Maloney departure
One player leaving Celtic Park is Shaun Maloney, who will be reunited with Martin O'Neill after the Aston Villa FC manager agreed to pay his old club €1.5m for the Scottish international midfielder. The 24-year-old Maloney, who can also play up front, scored 26 goals in 104 Scottish Premier League games for Celtic and has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Villa.
