Bulgaria thwarted by abandoned friendly

The friendly international between Bulgaria and Hungary in Cyprus was abandoned due to poor weather.

Bulgaria and Hungary’s warm-ups plans for the resumption of their respective UEFA EURO 2004™ campaigns were disrupted when their international friendly in Cyprus was abandoned due to poor weather.

Impossible conditions
With Bulgaria leading 1-0 in Larnaca through a goal from Zoran Jankovic after 36 minutes, the game was first suspended and subsequently abandoned at half-time as the high winds and heavy rain made it impossible for the match to continue.

Away games
Bulgaria sit top of EURO 2004™ qualifying Group 8 with a maximum of nine points from their three games so far, and travel to Estonia for their next game on 2 April. Meanwhile, Hungary are second in Group 4 with four points from two games, and next visit Poland on 29 March.
