Wisla propose Plock venue

Wisla Kraków have proposed Wisla Plock's ground as an alternative venue for the UEFA Cup tie against S.S. Lazio.

Wisla Kraków have proposed Wisla Plock's home ground, Petro Plock SSA, as an alternative venue for their postponed UEFA Cup fourth round second-leg tie against S.S. Lazio.

Sunday pitch inspection
The match could not take place last night due to a frozen pitch at Wisla's stadium and will instead be played on Wednesday 5 March. The UEFA delegate will inspect the pitch at both stadiums on Sunday before a decision is made on which ground will host the game.

Special measures
In an attempt to ensure their home pitch is ready, Wisla decided today to erect a huge canopy over the pitch under which hot air will be pumped. "The hot air should defrost the pitch and it will be controlled electronically," said Wisla president Bogdan Basalaj. "By Wednesday the pitch should be fine."

Besiktas await winners
The first leg in Rome finished 3-3 and the two sides will enter the second leg knowing Turkey's Besiktas JK await them in the last eight.
