Borowski blow for Bremen

Werder Bremen have been dealt a blow with the news that Tim Borowski will be sidelined for several weeks after picking up a knee ligament injury on Saturday.

Werder Bremen have been dealt a big blow just days before their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round meeting against NK Dinamo Zagreb with the news that Tim Borowski will be sidelined for several weeks with a knee injury.

Ligament damage
The 27-year-old German international sustained ligament damage to his left knee during Bremen's 2-2 draw against VfL Bochum 1848 on the opening Saturday of the new Bundesliga season. Borowski still managed to complete the game but has already been ruled out of the first leg against Dinamo Zagreb at the Weserstadion on Wednesday.

Awkward fall
"After a challenge during the first half I fell awkwardly on my knee. I was able to continue playing but I could feel that something wasn't right for the rest of the game," said 29-times capped Borowski. "I fear that he will be out of action for several weeks," added coach Thomas Schaaf. Borowski is due to undergo further tests to reveal the extent of the injury this week.
