Hajduk coach makes early exit

Croatian club HNK Hajduk Split have ended coach Ivan Pudar's four-month reign following his team's mixed start to the season both at home and in Europe.

HNK Hajduk Split have sacked coach Ivan Pudar after only four months in charge of the Croatian club.

Mixed results
Pudar, a goalkeeper with Hajduk in the 1980s, has been dismissed following his team's mixed start to the season: Hajduk lost the home first leg of their UEFA Cup second qualifying round tie 1-0 to UC Sampdoria, and sit six points behind Prva Liga leaders NK Dinamo Zagreb after five matches. The 41-year-old had replaced Zoran Vulić in April and guided the side to second place in the table and UEFA Cup qualification.

Krešić favourite
Hajduk chief executive Ivica Šurjak said: "We will know the name of the new coach on Friday, but for Saturday's match against NK Zagreb our assistants Mario Ćutuk and Tonći Gabrić will be in charge." Sergije Krešić is reported to be the favourite to replace Pudar.
