(Balta 22, Nonda (p) 77; Rodrigo Tello 44)
Ertuğrul Sağlam: "Our opponents deserved to win – they wanted it more than us. We now have to think about the Porto game, take stock and think twice about our mistakes."
FC Porto 2-0 Boavista FC
(López 14, 74)
Jesualdo Ferreira: "Porto played very well in the first 20 minutes of the first half and Boavista could not stop our attacking moves. After the goal we tried to control the game in a way we are not used to, but we managed to it well. Boavista did not create any chances."
Olympique de Marseille
Did not play
Wigan Athletic FC 0-1 Liverpool FC
(Benayoun 74)
Rafael Benítez: "We created some chances and you need to take them if you want an open game. Because we didn't we needed to bring on players with different skills and Yossi [Benayoun] was good, it was perfect."

Group BChelsea FC 0-0 Fulham FC
Avraham Grant: "We can play better. It's not been good enough for Chelsea. I'm not happy we didn't take the extra two points, but at least we created many chances."
FC Schalke 04 1-0 Hertha BSC Berlin
(Rafinha (p) 44)
Mirko Slomka: "Nine points [from three Bundesliga games] is obviously perfect. But today we noticed that our fitness levels are dropping. The players were a little bit tired and not so assured in their passing game."
Fredrikstad FK 4-3 Rosenborg BK
(Gashi 21, 45, Elyounossi 32, Johannsson 48; Iversen 39, (p) 67, 90)
Knut Tørum: "We let in four goals and, I have to admit, it could have been many more. We are very lucky to travel home with only a one-goal defeat. This was simply not good enough. I am very disappointed - none of our players performed as expected."
RC Recreativo de Huelva 0-1 Valencia CF
(Villa 4)
Quique Sánchez Flores: "We secured the win very early on and it will give us a lot of confidence for Wednesday's game against Chelsea. We controlled the game and our goalkeeper didn't have much to do save for the last ten minutes. It was a hard-working performance."

Group CAris Thessaloniki FC 1-1 Olympiacos CFP
(Aurelio 90; Galletti 39)
Panagiotis Lemonis: "We played well, but only sporadically because of the condition of the pitch. I was expecting more from my players in the creative aspect of our game. When one concedes an equaliser in added time, it is natural to feel disappointed."
Getafe CF 0-1 Real Madrid CF
(Ramos 64)
Bernd Schuster: "Our defence was sensational as always - they saved our lives. I've offered my congratulations to Sergio Ramos and Fabio Cannavaro because they have done their jobs excellently. With the introduction of Guti we got better. The difference between this and other games we have played in Getafe is that we achieved a victory."
Reggina Calcio 1-1 S.S Lazio
(Cozza 8; Kolarov 62)
Delio Rossi: "I wanted to rest a few players because we had played many games in quick succession recently. Reggina took an early lead so we had to push forward, risking a bit at the back. However, I liked the will of my players to save a point. We know it will be extremely difficult against Real Madrid but we are ready."
Werder Bremen 8-1 DSC Arminia Bielefeld
(Niemeyer 17, Hugo Almeida 35, 88, Sanogo 41, 44, Mertesacker 59, Rosenberg 66, Diego 85; Wichniarek 36)

Group DAC Milan 1-1 Calcio Catania
(Kaká 48; Martínez 25)
Carlo Ancelotti: "We are not in a great period. We were a bit slow in building the action today and were not able to keep focus for the entire 90 minutes. We did not well play today. We are not scoring enough considering the chances we create. We have failed to win in three home games so it's clear we have problems. But I'm not afraid - we only have to react quickly."
Celtic FC 3-0 Dundee United FC
(McDonald 6, 66, 71)
Gordon Strachan: "We emphasised it could have been a long day today against a well-organised side with the best defensive record in the country. To score so early took the players by shock and I think they relaxed a bit. We had a word at half-time and got that urgency back."
FC Metalurh Zaporizhya 1-3 FC Shakhtar Donetsk
(Cheliadinsky 32; Brandao 3, Gladkiy 46, 61)
Mircea Lucescu: "The scoreline reflects the situation we saw on the field. This win is important for us before the UEFA Champions League match against Benfica. Jadson could be out for approximately three weeks with a possible ligament strain. This is a serious blow for us as his current form is very impressive."
SL Benfica 0-0 Sporting Clube de Portugal
José Antonio Camacho: "During most parts of the game we managed to dominate and Sporting played on the counter-attack. Nevertheless, we were not able to score. But I'm happy, because we managed to create a lot of chances, which is very important. A goal was the only thing we couldn't do today."

Group ELevante UD 1-4 FC Barcelona
(Viqueira (p) 71; Henry 16, 23, 48, Messi 50)
Frank Rijkaard: "We have to thank every one of our players who contributed to this victory. We're ecstatic for them all and especially for Thierry [Henry]. It's not the best of times for our players and our thoughts are with those who are out injured."
Olympique Lyonnais 3-0 RC Lens
(Fábio Santos 42, Källström 80, Benzema 90)
Alain Perrin: "It's a confidence boost for Tuesday. It will be another tough game. More and more, I feel we are a team who enjoy playing together. We avoided injuries and I gave playing time to some players. It's a good evening for us."
Motherwell FC 1-1 Rangers FC
(Porter 23; Boyd (p) 67)
Walter Smith: "I thought it was a fair result. It was one of those games that got to the stage where it settled down. I can't say we deserved to get anything more than we did."
FC Hansa Rostock 2-1 VfB Stuttgart
(Rathgeb 16, Orestes 18; Gómez 73)
Armin Veh: "I have had it. We started well today, but it got difficult after the first goal. We have again conceded two early goals - that must not happen. In the second half we increased the pressure and scored, but it was not enough in the end."

Group FAS Roma 1-4 FC Internazionale Milano
(Perrotta 54; Ibrahimović (p) 29, Crespo 56, Cruz 60, Córdoba 68)

FC Dynamo Kyiv 0-1 FC Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Okhtyrka
(Sheptytskyi 29)
József Szabó: "Am I disappointed? On the one hand we lost three points. However, that was my gamble. The players who will meet Sporting were not on the pitch today. We hope to give Sporting a real battle and win the match."
Birmingham City FC 0-1 Manchester United FC
(Ronaldo 50)
Sir Alex Ferguson: "I think we're getting towards top gear. You could see signs of that today. Some of the movement up front was very good. [Wayne] Rooney, [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Carlos]Tévez are big threats for all our opponents, and the forward line is looking much better now."
SL Benfica 0-0 Sporting Clube de Portugal
Paulo Bento: "We dominated during the first half, except for the first few minutes. The second half was more balanced. We showed a great will to win this match and that fact was exploited by Benfica, who created some chances. But for what we created over the whole 90 minutes, I think we should have won."

Group G AS Roma 1-4 FC Internazionale Milano
(Perrotta 54; Ibrahimović (p) 29, Crespo 56, Cruz 60, Córdoba 68)
Siniša Mihajlović: "It was a very important game because we needed to regain self-confidence after a bad start. This result and this performance is very important also for our future both in Serie A and in the UEFA Champions League."
Fenerbahçe SK 1-1 MKE Ankaragücü
(Mehmet Aurélio 38; Ali Bilgin 90)
Zico: "I'm happy with the style of our play but I can't understand why we didn’t score more goals."
FC Zenit St. Petersburg 2-1 PFC CSKA Moskva
(Pogrebnyak 31, Denisov 89; Love 90)

NAC Breda 1-1 PSV Eindhoven
(Amoah 65; Perez 76)
Ronald Koeman: "We wanted to start very aggressively. We succeeded in the first 20-25 minutes but failed to score. After they made it 1-0 we had to take risks which paid off. You have to be glad not to lose after all that. After scoring, we should have been a little bit smarter."

Group HWest Ham United FC 0-1 Arsenal FC
(Van Persie 13)
Arsène Wenger: "It was a good test to defend a 1-0 advantage and not to make mistakes. I believe we did that very well. We have matured, we have more belief and we are really hungry."
FC Steaua Bucureşti 1-0 FC Vaslui
(Rada 65)
Massimo Pedrazzini: "It was a deserved victory, if a little lucky. We were rewarded for our hard work and the way we played - with heart and soul."
Real Zaragoza 2-0 Sevilla FC
(D'Alessandro 52, Sergio García 86)
Juande Ramos: "We lost but we were superior. The way things worked out and the final result was very surprising for me. There isn't a logical explanation for what happened. We weren't assertive enough up front."
SK Slavia Praha 7-1 FC Zlín
(Belaid 4, 17, Vlček 6, Ivana 16, Pudil 34, Volešák 50, Šourek 89; Zbozinek 82)
Karel Jarolím: "The margin is not important as it only brought us three points, just like a 1-0 victory. We scored two early goals and then it was a one-sided affair. My only regret is that we conceded a goal."
