Roma lose Cassetti for United return

AS Roma right-back Marco Cassetti will miss the Italian club's return to Manchester United FC next Tuesday as he faces three weeks out of action with a thigh injury.

AS Roma right-back Marco Cassetti will miss the Italian club's return to Manchester United FC in the UEFA Champions League next Tuesday as he faces three weeks on the sidelines with an injury to his left thigh.

Heavy defeat
The 30-year-old former Hellas-Verona FC and US Lecce player was part of the side beaten 7-1 at Old Trafford in last season's quarter-final second leg, but any personal thoughts of atoning for that heavy defeat have been ended by the knock sustained during Sunday's 2-2 home draw with Juventus. He was taken off after 28 minutes at the Stadio Olimpico.

Panucci returns
Roma, who began their Group F campaign with a 2-0 home triumph against FC Dynamo Kyiv, hope Cassetti will be back in contention for the visit of Sporting Clube de Portugal on 23 October. There was some good news for the Giallorossi today, however, as defender Christian Panucci returned to full training after sitting out the Dynamo success with a thigh strain.
