Sno falls on his feet

Celtic FC midfielder Evander Sno is enjoying a new lease of life with the Netherlands Under-21s after being asked to take an unaccustomed striking role for his country.

Attacking talent
The Jong Oranje have been blessed with attacking talent in recent years. Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Ryan Babel and Maceo Rigters were instrumental in helping Foppe de Haan's side claim back-to-back European U21 titles in 2006 and 2007. This season, though, the coach was struggling to find a spearhead – until the 20-year-old Sno agreed to fill the gap. "Finding a good central striker with goalscoring abilities is a bit of a problem in this age group, compared to earlier years," De Haan said. "But Sno is strong on the ball and holds it up well. He has developed very well."

Scoring form
Sno usually plays as a defensive midfielder for Scottish champions Celtic, where he has netted just once in 22 Premier League outings since joining from Feyenoord in 2006. For the Jong Oranje, however, scoring has become a habit. He got the only goal of last Friday's 1-0 win against F.Y.R. Macedonia, having already struck twice in a 3-0 victory in Estonia on 12 October – so three goals in four U21 appearances.
