Franco doubt for Atlético double-header

Club Atlético de Madrid goalkeeper Leo Franco is likely to miss the conclusion of UEFA Cup Group B as he nurses a thigh strain sustained at the weekend.

Club Atlético de Madrid goalkeeper Leo Franco will be sidelined for up to three weeks after pulling his right calf muscle while taking a 41st-minute goal kick during Sunday's 2-0 win at Real Betis Balompié.

Denmark trip
The 30-year-old Argentinian, who has made 12 Primera División appearances this term, will miss Wednesday's UEFA Cup trip to FC København and possibly also Atlético's concluding Group B tie against Panathinaikos FC in the Spanish capital on 20 December. Atlético are well-placed to advance having tallied four points from two outings to date.
