Iordanescu leaves out Reghecampf

Romania coach Anghel Iordanescu has dropped Laurentiu Reghecampf for the friendly against Lithuania.

Romania coach Anghel Iordanescu has announced 14 foreign-based players to form the basis of his squad for the friendly against Lithuania in Kaunas on 30 April.

Final test
The game will be the final test for Romania ahead of the decisive UEFA EURO 2004™ Group 2 qualifiers against Bosnia-Herzegovina (7 June in Craiova) and Norway (11 June in Oslo) so Iordanescu has kept experimentation to a minimum.

Reghecampf dropped
Gheorghe Popescu is missing having announced his retirement from the national team while Viorel Moldovan, Adrian Ilie and Marius Niculae are out injured. Tiberiu Ghioane, of FC Dynamo Kyiv, returns to the fold after playing for the Under-21 side against Denmark. Laurentiu Reghecampf, who made his debut in the recent 5-2 reverse against Denmark has been dropped.

'We can do it'
"We'll have to win three of the [last] four qualifiers and draw the fourth," Iordanescu said. "But in order to accomplish this, and we can do it, we need to have quietness. There have been a lot of scandals in Romanian football, but please, leave the national team out of them." After the Romanian league games on 26 April, Iordanescu is expected to add between four and six domestic-based players to his squad.

Romania's foreign-based players
