Jovica Škoro has resigned as coach of Prva savezna liga side FK Sartid with the club in relegation danger.

Jovica Škoro has resigned as coach of Prva savezna liga side FK Sartid following his relegation-threatened team's 1-0 defeat by FK Vojvodina on Saturday.

League success
Škoro took over Sartid three years ago, when they were promoted to the top flight. He helped Sartid to fourth and third-place finishes in the last two seasons, as well as a place in the 2002 Yugoslavian Cup final, where they lost to FK Crvena Zvezda.

Relegation danger
However, despite leading his side to this year's Serbo-Montenegrin Cup final, Škoro's team were eliminated from the UEFA Cup in the first round to Ipswich Town FC, and currently lie 12th in the league table, just one place above the relegation zone. Since the winter break, they have won just once, at bottom side FK Mogren.

'I cannot watch this disaster'
"It is over," said Škoro. "I do not want to think, not to mention speak about staying. I cannot watch this disaster anymore and I do not know how to stop the negative trend of the squad in whose ability everyone believes more than the players themselves. I was hoping that my parting from the club would be marked by a trophy and not by a relegation."

Successor to be named
Club officials have accepted Škoro's resignation and his successor should be named in the next few days.
