Wisla weight in Poland squad

Poland have called up five Wisla Kraków players for the friendly against Belgium next Wednesday.

Tremendous season
Wisla have enjoyed a tremendous season at home and abroad, leading the way in their domestic league and reaching the UEFA Cup fourth round. Poland coach Pawel Janas has called up Wisla defenders Arkadiusz Glowacki and Marcin Baszczynski, midfield men Miroslaw Szymkowiak and Kamil Kosowski and forward Maciej Zurawski.

Zdebel back
There is also a recall for defensive midfield player Tomasz Zdebel after more than a year away from the international set-up. Zdebel, who plays in Turkey for Gençlerbirligi SK but has agreed a move to German club Vfl Bochum 1848, is one of seven foreign-based players involved in the squad.

Sweden next
Poland, who drew 1-1 in a friendly with Belgium last August, are second in UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying Group 4, with seven points from four matches. Their next qualifier is on 11 June when they travel to third-placed Sweden.
