Aguinaldo earns Macedonian call

F.Y.R. Macedonia have called up midfielder Aguinaldo Braga de Jesus for the upcoming Group 7 qualifiers.

F.Y.R. Macedonia coach Nikola Ilievski has included midfield player Aguinaldo Braga de Jesus in his squad for the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Turkey next month.

Bittersweet cup
The Aris Thessaloniki FC player is in contention for the Group 7 matches after proving his fitness in last Saturday's Greek Cup final, which Aris lost against FC PAOK Thessaloniki. "I initially left Braga out but he has played in the cup final so I brought him back into the squad," Ilievski said.

Exiles impressed
Meanwhile, two other foreign-based players, striker Toni Pitoska from Bulgarian club PFC Marek Dupnitza, and Aleksandar Bajevski of Hungary's Györi ETO FC, are on stand-by. "Pitoska will join up if some of the forwards who are feeling injuries do not recover by the time we begin serious preparations on 3 June. I am also thinking of Bajevski, who is in good form in Hungary."

Home and away
Ilievski's team face Liechtenstein in Skopje on 7 June before a visit to Turkey and Istanbul four days later. F.Y.R. Macedonia are currently second from bottom of Group 7 with two points from four games.

FYR Macedonia squad
