Kovac doubt for Estonia trip

Robert Kovac looks certain to miss Croatia's UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifier in Estonia with a groin injury.

Croatia defender Robert Kovac seems set to miss his nation's UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifier against Estonia on 11 June after suffering a groin injury playing for FC Bayern München.

'The pain was huge'
Kovac, 29, picked up the injury in the last minute of Bayern's final German 1. Bundesliga game of the season against FC Schalke 04. He said after the game: "I am afraid that I will be out for four to six weeks. It was almost the end of the game and an opponent tackled me, I went down and the pain was huge."

Severe doubt
As for the game in Estonia, 27-times capped Kovac added: "Unfortunately, I really doubt that I will play in Tallinn." Croatia currently lie second in Group 8, three points behind Bulgaria with four games played.
