Adamyan ends U21 tenure

Armenia Under-21 coach Andranik Adamyan has resigned, while Karen Murdayan is in line to return to the team soon.

Disappointing results
Adamyan handed his resignation request to the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) president Ruben Hayrapetyan after the UEFA European Under-21 Championship losses left his side second from bottom in qualifying Group 6.

'No more news ideas'
"Our U21 team are playing very badly at the moment," Hayrapetyan said. "Of course, I am thankful to Adamyan for the job he has done. But I think he has no more new ideas regarding the team. Mistakes in the selection and the big defeats in our last two games are the proof of this."

Stojka role
Romanian coach Mikhaj Stojka, currently an assistant to Armenia and FC Pyunik head coach Mikhaj Stoichita, will replace Adamyan on a temporary basis. Stojka is currently in Romania looking for potential assistants.

Muradyan will be back
Hayrapetyan also said that former U21 captain Karen Murdayan who walked out of the team camp after the game against Spain will probably make a return in future. "Muradyan has already called the Football Federation of Armenia and even sent us a fax with a request to let him come back to Armenia and again play for the U21 team," Hayrapetyan said. "He is a young player and I think he regrets what he has done.  We will give him a second chance."

Group situation
With four points from five qualifiers Armenia are fourth in Group 6, nine points adrift of leaders Spain.
