Vranješ snapped up by Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart have signed the Croatian international Jurica Vranješ from Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

'Positive impression'
Vranješ arrives at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion on a free transfer and has agreed a two-year contract. "I am happy to be joining a big club like Stuttgart," said the 23-year-old, who will join international team-mate Zvonimir Soldo at Stuttgart - "he confirmed my positive impression of the club".

'International class'
Capped 15 times by Croatia, Vranješ is "a player of international class", according to his new coach, Felix Magath. "He is versatile and can play as a defensive midfielder as well as a central defender," Magath said.

Summer signings
Vranješ, however, was never a first-choice player during his four years at Leverkusen, where he made 46 Bundesliga appearances. He becomes Stuttgart's fourth summer signing after Brazilian striker Cacau, Hungarian international Imre Szabics and youngster Philipp Lahm.
