Chelsea duo agree new deals

Chelsea FC's England defender John Terry and striker Carlton Cole have signed new contracts with the club.

Staying put
The 22-year-old Terry has put pen to paper on a four-year contract to end speculation about a possible exit from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea received a further boost when Cole, 19, signed up for six years.

Done and dusted
"John Terry signed his new contract, he is going to be with us for the next four years," club chairman Ken Bates said, adding that "Carlton Cole [was] signing a six-year contract".

New owner
The news follows the announcement that Chelsea are to be bought by Russian businessman Roman Abramovich. The club will play in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round after finishing fourth in the Premiership in 2002/03.
