Ernst swaps Schalke for Beşiktaş

Erstwhile German international Fabian Ernst has joined Beşiktaş JK from Bundesliga outfit FC Schalke 04 on a two-and-a-half year contract. The 29-year-old former Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen midfielder moves for a fee thought to be around €3m having made his 106th, and what proved to be final, appearance on Saturday when he went off with a facial injury soon after half-time as Schalke lost 1-0 at the club where he started his career, Hannover 96.
