The Spanish club announced the deal on Tuesday, although they will have to wait until Saturday before officially unveiling the 32-year-old as their first recruit of the summer. Villarreal pushed through the move after talks between the Brazilian international and club director José Manuel Llaneza.
Record buy
Anderson, who has agreed a two-year contract, was a €19m French record signing when he joined Lyon from FC Barcelona in 1999. He subsequently won two league titles with the Stade Gerland club in 2002 and 2003.
