Johann Gudmundsson scored a hat-trick as Iceland's goal rush continued on Friday when they followed up their 6-2 win in Northern Ireland last month with an 8-0 rout of San Marino in Group 5 in qualifying for the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Gudmundsson treble
Heavy storms had delayed the kick off and forced the venue to be switched from Akranes to the Icelandic capital, and it came as no surprise that the home side adjusted best to the conditions, scoring four times in the first half. Gudmundsson opened the scoring in the fourth minute before crossing for Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson to head in the second 20 minutes later and within 60 seconds Gislason had made it three.

Late flurry
Gudmundsson added his second five minutes before the break, and the scoring was completed late on with four goals in the final 15 minutes. Gislason converted a penalty on 75 minutes then Almarr Ormarsson hit the sixth eleven minutes from time. The 18-year-old AZ Alkmaar striker Gudmundsson completed his hat-trick with four minutes remaining leaving Kristinn Steindorsson to score the eighth in the 89th minute after
Andrés Jóhannesson's strike had come back off the bar. It was San Marino's second 8-0 loss in the section following their defeat by that scoreline to leaders the Czech Republic in June.
