• Made one appearance at the 2009 U21 finals, in England's final group game against Germany (1-1).

• His first U21 goal was a hugely significant one, the winner in a 1-0 victory against Portugal at Wembley in a November 2009 qualifier.

• Guaranteed his place in Tottenham folklore when he marked his first league appearance for the club with stunning volley against Arsenal FC in a 2-1 home win in April 2010, a strike which was subsequently named goal of the season on the Spurs website with 74% of the vote.
