• Born in Sicily as Mario Baruwah to Ghanaian parents, he was adopted and brought up by an Italian family.

• Joined Inter soon after making his debut in Serie C1 for Lumezzane Calcio at 15. Helped the Nerazzurri to back-to-back Italian championships in 2008 and 2009.

• After officially becoming an Italian citizen on turning 18, he made his U21 debut and scored against Greece; also on target twice in second leg of play-off v Israel to seal Italy's place in Sweden.
