There was a happy European bow for Italy's ASD Torres Calcio and Turkish champions Trabzonspor on the opening day of UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying round Group 4 in Slovenia on Thursday night. Torres, entering as Italian runners-up, needed a late winner from new signing Patrizia Panico to edge to a 1-0 win against Slovakia's FK Slovan Duslo Šaľa while Trabzonspor, the first Turkish women's club to play in Europe, beat hosts ŽNK Krka 2-0. Torres and Trabzonspor meet on Saturday knowing a win could clinch first place and a Round of 32 berth. uefa.com rounds up the Matchday 1 reaction.

ASD TORRES CALCIO 1-0 FK SLOVAN DUSLO ŠAĽA
Patrizia Panico, Torres striker

We were very nervous because the game was important and the weather was very hot. A game full of emotion ended successfully for us.

Milan Mrllak, Slovan coach
We have a young team and Torres are a good, experienced team who won deservedly in the last few minutes. I would like to congratulate the winning team.

ŽNK KRKA 0-2 TRABZONSPOR
Boris Devetak, Krka coach
I am sad about the result. My team played well but they had some problems with concentration in the first half after conceding two goals. We could not penetrate the 'bunker'. Nothing is lost; the group is strong and anybody can win. We still have a chance and we will hope for the best.

Hakan Yılmaz, Trabzonspor coach
Our club is very young; only two years old. The Krka team, on the other hand, are excellent and well prepared for which we would like to congratulate the coach. We took full advantage of our two chances.
