RSC Anderlecht striker Nenad Jestrovic’s miserable run of luck has continued with the Serbian suffering a serious knee injury.
Ecstasy to agony
The 27-year-old could be out of football for up to six months after being hurt during Anderlecht's midweek UEFA Champions League third qualifying round first leg against Wisla Kraków. Soon after putting his side in front in the 13th minute, Jestrovic suffered the injury which has been diagnosed as ligament damage to his left knee.
More woe
Jestrovic, who missed the first half of last season through injury, may yet need surgery, with his earliest possible return estimated to be in eight weeks. "This is very hard for me," he said. "I am in good shape, and was ready for the Champions League, and now I will have to miss those important matches."
Group stage goal
Anderlecht have already considered the possibility of bringing in a new striker, should they reach the Champions League group stage. The Belgian side, who won Wednesday's game 3-1, travel to Poland for the return leg on 26 August.
