A skilful right-sided midfielder from Mali who is not afraid to take on his opponent, Abdou Traoré has broken through to the first team at FC Girondins de Bordeaux after coming through the club's youth set-up.

• Born in Bamoko, the Malian capital, he played youth football at local level before joining Bordeaux in 2006; turned professional in May 2008.

• Had already made his Bordeaux debut in a UEFA Cup game against Greek club Panionios GSS in December 2007.

• Chalked up seven starts and six substitute appearances in Les Marine et Blanc's 2008/09 Ligue 1 title triumph and played the full 90 minutes of the League Cup final win against Vannes OC at the Stade de France.

• Made his UEFA Champions League debut from the substitutes' bench in 2-0 home win against Juventus on 25 November 2009.

Did you know?
Traoré won his first senior international cap for Mali in a 4-0 win against Angola in February 2009.
