FC Bayern München have awarded 19-year old defender Diego Contento a first-team contract until the summer of 2011. Munich-born to italian parents, Contento has appeared 25 times for Bayern reserves in the third division over the past 13 months and will now join the senior set-up at the UEFA Champions League contenders. "I am pleased that the latest player we have educated has made the step into our first team," said Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger.
