winner 2011

• Made his top-flight debut in 2002/03 for National though it was not until 2005/06 that he became a regular, making 23 league appearances and scoring three goals – all in one game, an end-of-season 3-2 win against CS Pandurii Târgu Jiu.

• On the losing side in the 2006 Romanian Cup final as Naţional were beaten 1-0 after extra time by Rapid; joined Rapid a few weeks later.

• A Romanian Under-21 internatonal, he was uncapped at senior level when called into the UEFA EURO 2008 squad; made his debut in a pre-tournament friendly against Montenegro (4-0).

• A double winner with Porto in his first season, appearing 17 times as he contested the right-back berth with Jorge Fucile, but was loaned back to Rapid for the second half of 2009/10.

• Back at Porto in 2010/11, he featured regularly − without scoring − as the Dragons won a treble of Liga title, domestic cup and UEFA Europa League.
