Clubs: Racing Club, FC Porto, Olympique Lyonnais

• Born in Buenos Aires, Lisandro's first career stop was Racing Club, where he registered 26 goals in 69 games over three seasons in the Argentinian first division, topping the scoring charts in the 2004 Apertura championship with 12 goals.

• Signed by Porto in summer 2005, after making his international debut in March of that year, he won the Portuguese league and cup double in his first season and scored his first UEFA Champions League goal in a 1-1 home draw with Rangers FC.

• Won another domestic title in 2006/07 before completing the hat-trick in 2007/08, when he became Porto's principal striker and the Liga's top marksman, with 24 goals (from 27 starts) – 11 more than the runner-up; was also voted the league's player of the year.

• Scored just ten league goals in 2008/09 but found the target six times in the UEFA Champions League, spearheading Porto's march into the quarter-finals, and also struck the winner in the Portuguese Cup final against FC Paços de Ferreira which completed another domestic double.

• Joined Lyon for a club-record €24m in July 2009 as Karim Benzema's replacement and proved to be a huge hit, scoring a hat-trick away to RSC Anderlecht in the UEFA Champions League play-off round, equalising late on at home to Liverpool FC in the group stage and striking twice in the quarter-final defeat of FC Girondins de Bordeaux.

• Voted Ligue 1 Player of the Year for his 15 goals in 33 appearances; also struck his first goal for Argentina in an August 2009 friendly against Russia.
