Barisev replaces Giy at Nistru

Moldovan club FC Nistru Otaci have dismissed coach Yuri Giy and appointed Victor Barisev in his place.

Moldovan first division club FC Nistru Otaci have parted company with coach Yuri Giy after a disappointing start to the season.

Heavy defeat
Nistru crashed to a 5-0 defeat by FK Crvena Zvezda in the first leg of their UEFA Cup qualifying round tie in Belgrade on 14 August, and then drew 1-1 against FC Tiligul Tiraspol in the league the following Sunday. Those results prompted Giy's sacking and the appointment of assistant coach Victor Barisev as caretaker manager.

However, Nistru lost their first match under Barisev last Sunday, 2-0 against FC Zimbru Chisinau. They now face Zvezda in Thursday's UEFA Cup return leg. Last season, Giy led the club to third place in the league and the Moldovan Cup final.
