Kahovka-Kzeso were left to rue their first-day defeat against Vasca as they won 3-1 against Dacia in their final UEFA Regions' Cup Group B game.
The Ukrainian side finished as runners-up in the group after convincing wins in their games against Republic of Ireland and Dacia saw them end up with six points - the same as Vasca. Had they not lost to the Spanish representatives in their opening game, they would have met South-West Region-Sofia in Saturday's final.
None the less, they put in another fine display in Libiaz to leave their mark on the tournament, taking the lead after 47 minutes. A corner picked out wily striker Aleksey Ananichev in the penalty area, and although goalkeeper Bogdan Sava managed to block his first effort, he could not deny him from the rebound.
One of the tournament's most impressive players, Kahovka midfield player Sergey Chudak, made it 2-0 after 56 minutes as a quick counterattack caught the Romanian side on the hop. Chudak picked up the ball in midfield and raced into the area to slide the ball past the Ukrainian side's goalkeeper.
It was to be 3-0 after 78 minutes as the Dacia defence were found wanting again. Ananichev picked up a cross after the Romanian side's defence failed to clear it and fed the ball to midfield player Artem Hmara who marked his first and final goal of the tournament with a tidy finish.
Dacia pulled a goal back after 80 minutes as a cross from the left found Marian Turcila, who had eluded his marker. He had time to control the ball before steering it home. Second yellow cards for Cristian Gabrie Cojenel and Ionut Rotaru saw Dacia reduced to nine men before the final whistle, but Kahovka could take no further advantage.
