Keleti Régió secured their place in the UEFA Regions' Cup finals in style, wrapping up top spot in intermediary round Group 3 with a 6-1 victory against Württemberg.
Having opened their campaign with victories against Zlín (2-1) and West Central Scotland (4-2), Keleti Régió were level on six points with Württemberg heading into the final round of fixtures. The Hungarian outfit prevailed in the winner-takes-all encounter with the help of an Imre Domokos hat-trick, while Württemberg had goalkeeper Julian Hauser dismissed in added time.
"We carefully analysed Württemberg's first two games on video and that helped us a lot," Keleti Régió coach Tamás Feczkó told UEFA.com. "Of course we believed we could succeed, but we did not expect that it would be by such a margin. I appreciate the teamwork and spirit. We came to the Czech Republic wanting to win all three games, and we had enough confidence to succeed. We will be going to the finals with the same appetite for victories."
Captain Róbert Kóka was equally keen to praise the collective character of the side. "There is a great strength in our team; we work hard for each other," he said. "It is a fantastic feeling to win all three games and qualify for the finals. Discipline, concentration and unity were the most important things for us. We also know that our coach did a very good job preparing us for the matches and he helped to create the positive atmosphere in the dressing room. It is a great result for Hungarian amateur football."
