Match winner Paolo Gagno talked of an "incredible, indescribable feeling" as Veneto claimed their second UEFA Regions' Cup after 120 exhausting minutes and a penalty shoot-out in Abano Terme.
Paolo Gagno, Veneto midfielder
It's an incredible, indescribable feeling. It's the first time anything like this has happened to me and to all of us and now we're going to enjoy it. Now we celebrate. Selección Catalana are really strong, technically and physically a great team, but football is a lottery with penalties. When we got to penalties, I thought about Italy losing to Spain in the FIFA Confederations Cup on Thursday and felt it was our turn to win.
Fabrizio Toniutto, Veneto coach
It's an incredible joy and I want to dedicate it to all the lads, who were extraordinary for their efforts and the heart they put into it as well as their quality. I dedicate it to my father, who passed away recently. We worked really hard for this, playing 15 minutes with ten men. It was a good game with each side having a half each; they were a bit better in the first and then we had a few good chances in the second half. We hit the crossbar through [Igor] Furlan and we believed until the end. We've scored eight goals with just one goal conceded through qualifying and the finals so that's a good record. I am very proud to have followed this path together with these lads and for what we have done. The group was fantastic for this win, we all believed in it.
Prince Yarboye, Veneto defender
It's an emotion that I can't even describe. I'm lost for words. We're at home and believed in it until the end. We played well and they were stronger than us phsysically, but we kept our heads and we got the red card which made it even harder, but we've done it in the end. It's a dream for me – it's the biggest joy of my life.
Francesco Gasparato, Veneto forward
It's incredible, beautiful, marvellous – there are so many words which could describe this moment. I'll be a bit egoistic and say I think we deserved it. I've sacrificed so much in my life and I think this crowns things off perfectly. This is the best thing going. But tomorrow, we return to our normal lives, back to work on Monday, but certainly with a bigger smile. I do what I do really happily – I have a child, my partner and my job and I play football when I've got time. It's a passion – it's the thing I like doing the most in the world and today we reached the pinnacle. The biggest joy of my life was when my child was born, and then there is this.
