Date of birth: 18/01/62Capped 17 times at centre-back for Portugal, Dito started his career with SC Braga and won the Liga as an SL Benfica player in 1987, hanging up his boots in 1996. He has since coached clubs including SC Salgueiros, GD Chaves and Portimonense SC, and also works as a television commentator.
The Braga squad which qualified for the finals included a factory warehouseman and a clerk from a major religious charity, the Holy House of Mercy, along with a number of students, but they gelled into a fine side, winning Group 2 on home soil with three straight victories, nine goals scored and only one conceded.
Braga will be the third side to represent Portugal at the UEFA Regions' Cup finals and will hope to go a step further than the Braga lineup which reached the 2001 showpiece, when they lost out to Czech outfit Central Moravia on penalties after a 2-2 draw in Zlin.
"Our aim is to win the competition," said Dito. "We showed that we have a strong, skilful team in qualifying and we want to build on that in the finals. It's going to be tough, but we are confident we can prevail in front of our fans."
