Coach: Wolfgang Kopp
Date of birth: 02/02/1952
After playing in Germany's lower leagues for VfR Heilbronn, Spvgg 07 Ludwigsburg and SV Stuttgarter Kickers, Wolfgang Kopp turned to coaching with the local football association in Württemberg, where he has worked for over 20 years. He has been in charge of men's and women's youth teams and led the amateur side to Portugal.
Team profile
Centred around the city of Stuttgart, the Wurttemberg region is famous as an industrial hub, with car manufacturers Porsche and Mercedez based in the southern state, which also boasts part of the Black Forest and some excellent vineyards.
Württemberg qualified for the UEFA Regions' Cup as winners of a nationwide Under-20 tournament, but the side that won qualifying Group 1 on goal difference to reach the finals features plenty of more experienced players. Much will be expected of midfield engine Mark Mangold, a physical education teacher, with his team-mates including students, apprentices, car salesmen and plumbers, all of whom play in Germany's fourth and fifth divisions.
"The UEFA Regions' Cup is a highlight for all the players as they have never taken part in such a brilliantly organised tournament before," said coach Kopp, who cited a popular folk song when asked to explain what makes Württemberg people special: "Schaffe, schaffe, Häuslebaue." ('Work, work then build a house').
