ASD Bagnoli 1967's stadium was named in honour of a player who died after scoring a crucial goal for the club in the 1983/84 season. Bagnoli di Sopra itself was believed to have been built up from a swamp by monks from the local Benedictine monastery of San Michele Arcangelo. The Villa Widmann and Palazzetto Widmann are both testament to the power and wealth of one of the city's most celebrated families, and while the town's main business is agriculture, it also boasts a celebrated local wine, Friularo.
