Playing career: Altınmızrak, Sakaryaspor AŞ, Fenerbahçe SK, İstanbulspor AŞ
Coaching career: İstanbulspor AŞ, Malatyaspor, Konyaspor, Ankaraspor AŞ, Fenerbahçe SK

• A teenage gymnast, Kocaman started his career at now defunct amateur side Altınmızrak. From there he moved to local team Sakaryaspor on the advice of a family friend in 1984 and caught the eye with a string of impressive performances.

• Joined Fenerbahçe in 1988 fresh from lifting the Turkish Cup and went on to score 140 goals in 209 league matches during eight seasons at the Istanbul club, winning the title in 1989 and 1996. The top scorer in the Turkish Super League in 1989, 1992 and 1995, Kocaman amassed 15 international caps.

• His coaching career began suddenly in the 1999/2000 season while a player at İstanbulspor, where he was appointed caretaker coach seven weeks before the end of the campaign thanks to his holding of a licence. Preserved İstanbulspor's top-flight status and retired from playing that summer.

• After spells at Malatyaspor, Konyaspor and Ankaraspor, he returned to Fenerbahçe as a sporting director in 2009/10, replacing Christoph Daum in the dugout the following June. Guided the Yellow Canaries to their first league title in four years in 2010/11, his first major trophy as a coach, and in 2011/12 ended the club's 29-year wait for the Turkish Cup.

• Kocaman's Midas touch continued in 2012/13 as he took Fenerbahçe to the semi-finals of a UEFA competition for the first time, presiding over a six-game unbeaten European away run prior to their last-four tie against SL Benfica.
