• A native of Burkina Faso, Kaboré played junior football locally before leaving ÉF Ouagadougou for French Ligue 2 club Libourne in 2006.
• A defensive midfielder capable of operating at right-back, he made 26 league appearances for Libourne before signing a five-year contract with Marseille in December 2007.
• Made his Ligue 1 debut on 19 January 2008 in a 3-1 home victory against Valenciennes FC; his UEFA Champions League debut − as a substitute − came nine months later in a 2-0 defeat by PSV Eindhoven.
• Enjoyed an impressive 2009/10 campaign, helping OM to the League Cup/Ligue 1 double; his 25 matches in the latter brought one goal – in a vital 2-1 win at home to title rivals Olympique Lyonnais.
• A Burkinabé international since 2006, he made his major tournament debut at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
