UEFA Cup: winner 2005
• Born in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius, he started out with local club Žalgiris and won the Lithuanian Cup at the end of his first season.
• Capped by Lithuania for the first time in November 1996, in a friendly against Indonesia, he made his first competitive appearance in a UEFA EURO 2000 qualifier at home to Scotland (0-0).
• Left Žalgiris for Dinamo midway through 1997/98 Lithuanian season and remained for four years, accumulating 88 league appearances.
• Joined CSKA in 2002 and won the Russian Cup midway through his first campaign; added further cup wins in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009, appearing from the start in all five finals.
• Also helped CSKA to Premier-Liga titles in 2003, 2005 and 2006 and was a UEFA Cup winner in 2005, featuring as a substitute in the final against Sporting Clube de Portugal; was voted 2005 Lithuanian Footballer of the Year.
