Andrés Palop

Although uncapped at international level, Andrés Palop is the proud possessor of a UEFA European Championship winners' medal, which he earned as an unused member of Spain's triumphant 2008 squad. The veteran goalkeeper has enjoyed many memorable experiences at club level, notably three UEFA Cup wins in four years.

• Began career with hometown Valencia CF B team; moved up coast to Villarreal CF, winning promotion to top flight in first season but suffering relegation in second.

• Back with Valencia in 1999/2000 and spent next six years as No2 to Spanish international Santiago Cañizares; made six starts in early stages of Valencia's run to 2000 UEFA Champions League final (Cañizares was out injured) but just one appearance the following season as club finished runners-up again.

• Made seven appearances in UEFA Cup triumph of 2003/04 but unused in the Liga, which Valencia also won that season under coach Rafael Benítez.

• Moved to Sevilla FC in 2005; UEFA Cup winner in first season (4-0 in final against Middlesbrough FC) and retained trophy in 2006/07, winning man of the match award in final versus RCD Espanyol after saving three spot-kicks in penalty shoot-out.

• Was Sevilla's undisputed No1 during first four seasons at club but put under pressure for place by locally born Javi Varas in 2009/10; played 60th European match in 4-1 win at Rangers FC on Matchday 2 of 2009/10 UEFA Champions League group stage.

Did you know?
Palop scored a crucial last-gasp equaliser, heading in from a corner, as Sevilla kept their 2006/07 UEFA Cup campaign on track in the round of 16 tie against FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
