A diligent and technically gifted left-sided midfielder or full-back, Danijel Pranjić tends to occupy the latter role for Croatia. Once a prolific marksman for sc Heerenveen, he seldom scores for current club FC Bayern München and had not found the net for Croatia by the end of UEFA EURO 2012 qualification.
• Began with NK Osijek, helping the club to fourth place in the 2003/04 Croatian league before moving to GNK Dinamo Zagreb.
• Despite a disastrous 2004/05 season for Dinamo, in which they finished a lowly seventh in the league, he received a first international call-up and made his debut in a Dublin friendly against the Republic of Ireland.
• Joined Heerenveen in 2005; scored on his home debut, a 5-4 win against Roda JC, and was an ever-present in his second Eredivisie campaign.
• Played every minute for Croatia at UEFA EURO 2008 − the only person to do so − and enhanced his reputation further at club level the following season, winning the Dutch Cup and scoring 16 Eredivisie goals for Heerenveen.
• Transferred to Bayern in summer 2009 and scored his first goal for the Bavarians in a 5-1 win at VfL Bochum 1848 that December; ended the campaign with Bundesliga and German Cup winners' medals but was an unused substitute for the UEFA Champions League final loss to FC Internazionale Milano.
• Made just seven Bundesliga appearances in the 2011/12 season but was on the bench for the UEFA Champions League final against Chelsea FC at Bayern's Fußball Arena München.
