• Tall, Polish-born left-back, he made Bundesliga debut for FC Schalke 04 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen in February 2006.

• Left Schalke for Bremen in August 2007 but suffered a knee injury in his second appearance.

• Eventually established himself as Bremen's first-choice left-back, helping them reach the UEFA Cup final in 2008/09.
