Anders Lindegaard has recovered from a frustrating start to his career at Odense BK to become not only the chief understudy to Thomas Sørensen as Denmark goalkeeper but also a potential first choice at Manchester United FC. He established his reputation in Norway with Aalesunds FK.
• Started out with local club OB but had his route to the first team barred by Polish veteran Arkadiusz Onyszko and did not make his Superligaen debut until November 2006.
• Had a spell on loan at second-tier Danish club Kolding FC before returning to OB, but a brief interlude as first choice, in which he made his European debut in a UEFA Europa League qualifier against FK Rabotnicki, was scuppered by the arrival of Northern Irish international Roy Carroll.
• Having spent the first half of 2009 on loan at Aalesund, he returned there and helped the club to victory in the Norwegian Cup, defeating Molde FK on penalties in the final; permanently signed to Kjetil Rekdal's side in 2010, he started all 30 Tippeligaen matches, conceding 37 goals as the team finished fourth.
• Recommended by Danish goalkeeping legend Peter Schmeichel to his old club Manchester United, he moved to Old Trafford in the winter of 2010/11 and made his debut in an FA Cup fourth round tie against Southampton FC; the following season he starred on his UEFA Champions League debut at SL Benfica and became a strong challenger to David De Gea before suffering an ankle injury in spring 2012.
• A Danish youth international, he kept a clean sheet on his senior debut – in the team's opening UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier at home to Iceland (1-0) – and did the same against Cyprus in the same competition the following month (2-0).
