A prolific goalscorer in the Ukrainian Premier League, Yevhen Seleznyov helped FC Shakhtar Donetsk to the domestic double in 2011/12 following a return to his original club from FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. A traditional centre-forward with physical presence and aerial strength, he has been a Ukrainian international since 2008.
• Born in Makiivka, in eastern Ukraine, he started out in Shakhtar's youth academy but his route to top-flight senior football came via an 18-month spell at FC Arsenal Kyiv.
• Returned to Shakhtar for the 2008/08 season and featured regularly in domestic competition, scoring seven goals in 26 outings, but made only substitute appearances in a long European campaign that resulted in UEFA Cup victory.
• Unsettled at Shakhtar, he joined Dnipro and scored 13 league goals in 2009/10 followed by a league-best tally of 17 in 2010/11, helping the club to fourth place in each season before returning to Shakhtar in 2011.
• Received his first senior cap for Ukraine in May 2008 and scored his first goal six months later before adding his first two competitive strikes in 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying ties against Andorra; generally used off the bench during the countdown to UEFA EURO 2012.
• Secured his place in Oleh Blokhin's squad with another 14 league goals in 2011/12, which enabled him to finish joint first in the scoring lists and also claim his first league title; also helped Shakhtar win the Ukrainian Cup, coming on as an extra-time substitute in the final against local rivals FC Metalurh Donetsk.
