A robust central defender whose tackling and ball-winning abilities can also be effectively utilised in midfield, Jan Rajnoch is a fringe member of Michal Bílek's Czech Republic squad, making just one start in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying – in the crucial 2-2 draw against Scotland in Glagow. He plays his club football in Turkey.

• Received his footballing education during a ten-year spell with AC Sparta Praha's youth team but was denied a senior breakthrough with the club, who despatched him on loan to FK Mladá Boleslav and SC Xaverov before he joined city rivals FC Bohemians Praha. 

• Relegated with Bohemians, he remained with the club in the second division for half a season before returning to the top flight with 1. FC Synot (later 1. FC Slovácko), where he established his credentials as one of the 1. Liga's most consistent centre-backs.

• Made his first excursion into European competition after rejoining Mladá Boleslav in 2006, enjoying two successive group stage campaigns in the UEFA Cup, including a memorable elimination of Olympique de Marseille.

• A half-season loan to German club FC Energie Cottbus in 2008/09 resulted in relegation and a return to Mladá Boleslav, followed by a January 2010 transfer to Turkey's MKE Ankaragücü and a further move to Sivasspor two years later.

• Made his international debut as a substitute in an August 2008 friendly against England at Wembley; won his 15th cap during the September 2011 UEFA European Championship qualifier in Scotland.
