David de Gea

David de Gea

Clubs: Club Atlético de Madrid, Manchester United FC

• Helped Spain win the 2007 European U17 title in Belgium, where he conceded only one goal in four games, and saved a penalty on his Liga debut for Atlético, aged 18, in a 2-1 home win against Real Zaragoza on 3 October 2009.

• Replaced Sergio Asenjo as Atlético's No1 under new coach Quique Sánchez Flores and went on to help the club to victory in the inaugural 2010 UEFA Europa League, starring in both semi-final and final against English clubs Liverpool FC and Fulham FC respectively.

• Saved a penalty from newly crowned UEFA Club Footballer of the Year Diego Milito as Atlético beat FC Internazionale Milano 2-0 in the 2010 UEFA Super Cup.

• Ever-present for Spain (two goals conceded) in their successful UEFA European Under-21 Championship campaign in June 2011, a month which ended with him completing a reported €21m move to United.

• Picked up the 2012/13 Premier League title with United and finished off that season by helping Spain defend their U21 crown as Julen Lopetegui's side won all five games in Israel.
