A tall central defender who can also put in a shift as a midfield anchorman, Kamil Glik is a much-travelled Polish international plying his trade in Italy with Torino FC. A strong second half of the 2011/12 season earned him a recall to Franciszek Smuda's squad for the UEFA European Championship.
• Began an unconventional career path by moving to Spain at an early age and spending time with Real Madrid CF's C team before returning home to Poland in 2008 with GKS Piast Gliwice.
• Helped Piast finish 11th in his debut Ekstraklasa campaign but despite scoring twice in 28 starts the following term he could not prevent the club dropping out of the top flight.
• Made a goalscoring debut for Poland in a friendly against Thailand on 20 January 2010 and featured intermittently over the next year before losing his place in the final countdown to UEFA EURO 2012.
• Joined US Città di Palermo in 2010 and made four starts for the club in the UEFA Europa League but was not used in Serie A; in January he moved on loan to AS Bari, where he made 16 league appearances.
• Spent the whole of the 2011/12 campaign with Torino, where he featured regularly, scoring two goals in successive home games over a four-day spell in late April to boost the Turin club's bid for promotion to Serie A.
