Lucy Bronze

National team: England

Which player most inspired you and why? Kelly Smith, being one of the best players in the world whilst I was growing up, then finally getting to play with her with England and realising just how humble she is.

Which coach most inspired you? Mo Marley, she made me into a proper defender, taught me the ins and outs of defending.

What was the best advice they gave you? Don't worry too much about the players you're playing against, focus on your own game.

Best player you've played with? Fara Williams – technical ability second to none.

Toughest opponent? Kelly Smith.

What are your memories of your first club as a child? Playing with the boys, and one of the boys on the other teams laughing at playing against a girl… needless to say he came off the pitch crying by the end.

What tip would you give a young player hoping to succeed? Work hard! Success does not come easy, you have to work hard for it.

What was the experience of playing in a youth final tournament? The best preparation for playing in senior competitions, learn to deal with the pressures of winning and losing whilst playing for your country.
