• José Márcio da Costa took his nickname of Mossoró from his Brazilian birthplace.
• Came through the youth ranks at Ferroviário and joined Paulista, via a brief spell at Santa Catarina, in 2003; won the Copa Brasil with Paulista in 2005 before joining Internacional.
• Enhanced his profile by helping Internacional to victory in the 2006 Copa Libertadores but not involved in their FIFA Club World Cup win against FC Barcelona later that year.
• Joined Marítimo on loan and played in every Liga game for the Madeira club in 2007/08, scoring seven goals, including two in a late-season 4-1 win against Braga, who duly snapped him up that summer on a four-year deal.
• Featured in every game (though generally as a substitute) as Braga reached the 2011 UEFA Europa League final having dropped into the competition from the UEFA Champions League.
