UEFA Europa League: winner 2011
• Sao Paulo born and bred, Maicon started his career with Belo Horizonte club Cruzeiro before having a brief spell with Cabrofriense.
• Moved to Madeira in 2008, joining Nacional; enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Portuguese Liga, making 28 appearances in central defence as the club finished fourth and qualfied for the UEFA Europa League.
• Moved to the Portuguese mainland after one season with Nacional, signing a five-year contract with Porto in June 2009.
• Made just four league appearances – and one in the UEFA Champions League, against Club Atlético de Madrid (3-0) – in his debut season before coming to prominence under new coach André Villas-Boas in the Dragons' 2010/11 title-winning campaign.
