An experienced central defender who returned to Wisła Kraków just before UEFA EURO 2012 following a spell in Turkey with Trabzonspor AŞ,  Arkadiusz Głowacki won six Polish league titles in his first spell at Wisła and has revived his international career under coach Franciszek Smuda.

• Joined home-town club KKS Lech Poznań as a youth and made his Ekstraklasa debut at 18; left for Wisła Kraków midway through the 1999/2000 season, at the end of which he was a losing Polish Cup finalist.

• Won the first of his six Ekstraklasa titles with Wisła in his first full season, 2000/01, and became a Polish international the following term, making his debut in February 2002 against the Faroe Islands and his first competitive start at the 2002 World Cup finals in the team's 3-1 triumph over the United States.

• A Polish Cup win in 2001//02 was followed by a domestic double in 2002/03; further Ekstraklasa titles followed in 2003/04 and 2004/05 before he was appointed club captain and skippered the team to back-to-back championships in 2007/08 and 2008/09.

• Nine of his ten full seasons at Wisła brought European football, including a run to the UEFA Cup fourth round in 2002/03 and 12 appearances in UEFA Champions League qualifying (but no group stage participation).

• Virtually ignored at international level from 2004 to 2009, he was restored to the team by interim boss Stefan Majewski before Franciszek Smuda made him a major part of his UEFA EURO 2012 plans.

• His international cause was helped by a move to Trabzonspor, where he was a Turkish Süper Lig runner-up in his first season (after scoring on his home debut against title rivals Fenerbahçe SK) and – at last – a UEFA Champions League group stage performer, starting all six matches, in 2011/12.

• Rejoined Wisła on a two-year contract in late May 2012, with injuries having hampered his performances in Turkey.
